Vedelux attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. We process your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, also known as the GDPR, namely European Regulation 2016/679 applicable since 25 May 2018.

We take care of your personal data

Vedelux undertakes to process your personal data in accordance with the basic principles applicable to data protection.

This means, among other things, that we ensure compliance with the following principles:

  • transparency
  • purpose limitation
  • storage limitation
  • data minimisation
  • accuracy
  • confidentiality, integrity and availability of data

We process your personal data carefully, responsibly and only where necessary.

We process your personal data lawfully

Your personal data is only processed when there is a valid legal basis.

Processing may take place when you have given your explicit consent. You always have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.

Processing may also be necessary for one of the following reasons:

  • the performance of a contract
  • compliance with a legal obligation
  • the protection of a vital interest
  • the performance of a task carried out in the public interest
  • the pursuit of a legitimate interest

Purpose and lawfulness of processing

Vedelux only processes the personal data that is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

We may process your personal data in the following situations, among others:

  • when you request a quotation
  • when you place an order
  • when we need to perform a contract

The data processed may include identification data, contact details, billing details, delivery details, order details, commercial correspondence, technical data relating to the use of our website and, where applicable, data necessary for the management of after-sales service or warranties.

Security of personal data

Vedelux takes the necessary technical and organisational measures to properly protect the personal data it processes.

We provide, among other things, physical security measures, regular updates of hardware and software, appropriate password management, secure internet connections, suitable backups and the use of security software where necessary.

These measures are intended to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or unauthorised destruction.

Transfer of data to third parties

Personal data processed by Vedelux is only transferred to third parties when this is necessary to achieve the purposes described in this statement or when we are legally required to do so.

This may include transport providers, logistics partners, IT suppliers, hosting providers, payment service providers, accountants, professional advisers or other partners required for the performance of our services.

Where personal data is transferred to a third party acting on behalf of Vedelux, that third party must process the data in accordance with the applicable data protection legislation. In particular, it may not use the data for its own purposes and must secure it appropriately.

Retention period

Vedelux only retains your personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

In certain cases, a longer retention period may be necessary or mandatory, for example to comply with accounting, tax, contractual or legal obligations.

When the data is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymised where possible.

Commercial communications

Vedelux wishes to keep its customers and prospects informed about its products, services and news.

Commercial communications may therefore be sent to our customers and prospects when there is a contractual relationship, a request for quotation or a legitimate interest in communicating about our products and services.

In the context of a quotation request, we may rely on our legitimate interest. You can, however, easily unsubscribe at any time so that you no longer receive these communications.

Prospects who contact us via the website can indicate whether they wish to receive communications by e-mail by ticking the box provided in the contact form.

If Vedelux wishes to process your personal data for another purpose requiring your consent, your explicit consent will be requested in advance.

Cookies

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that may be stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you visit a website.

These files may contain certain information, such as your language preference. When you visit the website again later, the cookie is sent back to the website. This allows the website to recognise your browser and, for example, remember your language preference.

Cookies generally have a limited retention period. Some cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. These are called session cookies. Other cookies remain on your device for a longer period, sometimes until you delete them yourself. These are called persistent cookies.

Why do we use cookies?

Our website uses practical and useful techniques that improve your browsing experience and allow us to make the site as relevant and functional as possible for each visitor.

Cookies and similar technologies may be used by Vedelux or by third parties that communicate via our website, such as certain service providers or advertising partners.

The use of cookies is safe. No direct personal information, such as a telephone number or e-mail address, can be derived from a simple cookie. Cookies therefore cannot be used directly for e-mailing or telemarketing actions.

We believe it is important that you know which cookies our website uses and for what purposes. In this way, we aim to safeguard your privacy, the user-friendliness of our website and the proper functioning of our services as much as possible.

Cookie consent

Cookies that are strictly necessary for the proper functioning of the website may be placed without prior consent.

Non-essential cookies, such as statistical, marketing or tracking cookies, are only placed after your consent, unless the law provides for an exemption.

You can modify or withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings available on our website, where this functionality is provided.

Which cookies do we use?

Functional cookies

Functional cookies are necessary for the proper functioning of the website.

Our website uses functional cookies, among other things, to:

  • transfer information from one page to another, for example when a long form is completed or when an online order requires several steps
  • save certain preferences, such as language, location or display settings
  • ensure the proper functioning of the shopping basket, ordering process or other essential website functions

These cookies are essential to ensure correct navigation and smooth use of the website.

Statistical cookies

Statistical cookies allow us to measure the use of our website.

We may use Google Analytics or similar tools to better understand the number of visitors to our website and the pages most frequently viewed.

The information collected is used to compile statistics. These statistics allow us to better understand how our website is used, which pages are visited most often and where visitors spend the most time.

This information helps us improve the structure, navigation, content and user-friendliness of the website. The statistical reports we use are not intended to personally identify visitors.

We use these cookies, among other things, to:

  • measure the number of visitors to our pages
  • analyse the duration of visits
  • understand the order in which visitors view pages
  • identify parts of the website that can be improved
  • optimise the operation and content of the website

Social media cookies

Our website may contain elements that allow certain content to be shared via social media or that display embedded content from these platforms.

To enable these buttons or embedded content to function properly, the relevant platforms may place cookies. These cookies may allow these platforms to recognise you when you wish to share an article, page or video.

These cookies enable users logged in to certain social media platforms to share content directly from our website.

For cookies placed by social media platforms and the data they may collect, we invite you to consult their own privacy statements. Vedelux has no control over any changes to these statements.

These platforms may include, among others:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Pinterest
  • YouTube
  • X, formerly Twitter

Interest and marketing cookies

Interest and marketing cookies are used to provide more relevant content or advertisements.

Our aim is to provide visitors to our website with information that is as relevant as possible. We may therefore adapt certain content or advertisements based on the presumed interests of visitors.

For this purpose, your browsing behaviour on our website or, in some cases, on other websites may be taken into account. This information allows interest categories to be created without necessarily creating a directly identifiable profile.

On this basis, content or advertisements may be adapted to certain groups of visitors.

Third parties that place cookies via our website may also use these cookies to estimate your interests. In that case, information relating to your current visit may be combined with information from previous visits to other websites.

If these cookies are not accepted, this does not mean that you will no longer see advertisements. The advertisements displayed will simply be less tailored to your interests.

These cookies make it possible, among other things, to:

  • record your visit in order to estimate your interests
  • adapt certain content or advertisements to groups of visitors
  • measure the effectiveness of certain campaigns or communications

Unexpected cookies or third-party cookies

Due to the way the internet and websites work, it is possible that we do not always have a complete overview of all cookies placed by third parties via our website.

This is particularly the case when certain pages contain embedded elements, such as text, documents, images, videos or other content hosted by another party but displayed on or via our website.

If you notice cookies on our website that are not mentioned in this statement, you can inform us.

You may also contact the third party concerned directly to ask which cookies are placed, for what reason, how long they are retained and how your privacy is protected.

How can I view or delete cookies?

If you do not want websites to place cookies on your device, you can change your browser settings.

You can configure your browser to receive a warning before cookies are placed. You can also choose to refuse all cookies or only third-party cookies. Cookies that have already been placed can also be deleted via your browser settings.

Please note that these settings must be configured separately for each browser and each device you use.

If you refuse certain cookies, we cannot guarantee that our website will always function correctly. Some features may be limited or unavailable. It is also possible that certain parts of the site may not be displayed correctly.

Refusing cookies does not necessarily mean that you will no longer see advertisements. The advertisements displayed will simply be less tailored to your interests and may be repeated more frequently.

The way to change your settings varies depending on the browser used. If necessary, consult your browser’s help function.

Changes to this statement

Vedelux may amend this privacy and cookie statement when necessary, for example in the event of changes to our services, our website or the applicable legislation.

The most recent version is always available on our website.
