First things first. Everything starts with the basics. Select your favourite type and colour of slat from our extensive library. Dark. Or light. Or something in between. Once the basis feels right, we can kick off.

Basswood is the American name for limewood. The limewood (Tilia spp.) belongs to the Tiliaceae family and comes from Europe or the United States.
Limewood is a soft white to white yellow wood with a fine frain. Because of the softness of the wood we can easily process the slats giving them a smoother look. This kind of wood allows us to first use a primer (= protection of the wood against discoloration) before we paint the slats. The "finger joint" technique can be used because the slats are easily editable. This is a well-defined technique for matching slats which allow production of 3600mm wide systems.
Our Basswood collection is available in 27mm, 35mm, 50mm and 65mm slats.

The American wood collection is produced with 100% limewood and is only available in 50mm slats. These slats are typified by their visible American nuts structure (Walnuss, Noyer, Walnut, Black Walnut or Tropical Walnut) and give a quiet and exclusive appearance. The American wood collection is perfect to combine with white or black walls or white marble worktops.
Due to the light and smooth structure, these wooden slats are easy to clean.

Abachi is a West African tropical wood type. Abachi wood is slightly lighter, more flexible and more expensive than limewood. The wood grain structure is more visible than in the Basswood slats. Because it is a tropical type of wood, such slats are more resistent to humidity. This is why Abachi or Bamboo slats are often used in humid areas. The Abachi Pure blinds have a rawer finishing than the standard Abachi blinds. The slats are brushed 2 times and are painted with 2 different colors. Attention, this technique releases a strong smell. Such smell disappears after a few weeks.

Bamboo is the fastest growing tropical plant in the world (up to 1 meter per day!) and can be harvested after 4 to 5 years. Traditional hard wood species only can be harvested after 25 to 70 years and new trees have to be planted afterwards. Bamboo is a variety of grass which, after harvesting, is constantly renewed by the production of new shoots (= ecological). Cutting the slats is done from bamboo blocks of 2430mm, whichare created by the compression of a large amount of bamboo flakes ("engineered wood").
Bamboo slats are usually thinner than limewood slats. Bamboo is a light and very solid material. Unlike most hard woods, bamboo barely absorbs humidity. As a result, the slats are less likely to deform in humid areas.
Our Bamboo collection is available in 35mm, 50mm and 65mm slats.

Our PVC blinds are a perfect alternative when wood is slightly too expensive. The PVC slats are heavier than wooden slats, which limits the maximum warranty surface to 3m². It is not recommended to have such blinds in a porch or above a heat source. A plus point is that such slats do not react to humidity.
Our PVC collection is available in 35mm, 50mm and 65mm slats.

Vedelux assembles a wide range of horizontal aluminium blinds. Our slats generally have a thickness of about 0.21, resulting in a higher quality that the standard 0.19 slats.
Our Aluminium collection is available in 35mm and 50mm slats.
ATTENTION! 27 mm has a reduced choice of colours and materials. With this slat width, we also use a tilting rod if no ladder tape is used.
Big or small? And what is the consequence of my choice? Usually this is purely personal taste and the choice depends on what you like. We can say, however, that smaller widths are usually beautiful and elegant on smaller windows. In addition, they do not allow much view through, so that you can guarantee privacy in your home. These slats are therefore often placed on the street side. Larger widths such as 65 mm are perfect for larger windows. They provide a lot of cosiness and are often hung on the garden side.
Good choice of slats. Now let's choose a nice colour for the pulling cords! Are you going for a nice blend? Or do you prefer a contrasting colour?

The cord is located in the middle of the slat. The heart of your Vedelux. Not to be confused with the ladder cords. But don't worry, you will still have to choose the colour of the ladder cords.
Now enhance your Vedelux as you wish. Choose the colour of the ladder cords or decorate your favourite Vedelux with ladder tape.

The ladder cords are the cords visible on the outside. The slats rest on them. They also ensure the tilting of the slats.
ATTENTION! With 27 mm slat widths without ladder tape, a wooden tilting rod is used. You can see this in the pictures below.
Ladder tape is an aesthetic extension of your Vedelux. You can choose slats with or without ladder tape. Whatever you like best!

Colours of the ladder tape depend on the chosen widths.
It's all in the details. Unfortunately, all good songs come to an end, including the composition of your Vedelux. But one last choice. Just to take the edge off.
